Since the hype for detox drinks, people have been very creative in making their own cleansing concoction. The end product ranges from the combination of various citrus and fibrous fruits like lemon, orange, pineapple and watermelon juice and vegetables like celery, cucumber, carrot and broccoli. Some even add herbs and spices for additional flavor.

Detox drinks are made by either juicing the fruits using a juicer, food processor or a blender or by simply infusing them with water. The easiest and most common way to make detox drink is to infuse water with your preferred ingredients and then refrigerate for up to 12 hours. Effortless and pretty convenient, isn’t it? Now, detox drinks fans’ creativity isn’t limited to solid ingredients that they mix, someone made a bizarre mixture that turned out to be an awesome, healthy, and refreshing drink. Instead of normally infusing the fruits with water, Lisa of Lisa’s Plate used green tea. Of course, everybody loves green tea, the healthiest of the tea family, but who would have thought that it would be the perfect liquid to infuse with your favorite fruits? If you think green tea isn’t healthy enough, Lisa used watermelon and blueberries giving this drink extra hydrating and energizing power.

Here is the recipe for Lisa’s Blueberry and Watermelon Infused Green Tea


diced watermelon

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

1 bag of green tea

A handful of blueberries

1L of water

The preparation is really easy. Simply strain the tea bag in hot water. Set aside and let it cool. Throw in blueberries and watermelon and add lemon juice. Refrigerate it overnight and serve it chilled.

This drink is jam packed with vitamins and minerals that will keep your body healthy, energize, and hydrated. Watermelon is rich in lycopene which contributes to our cardiovascular and bone health, is found to prevent various types of cancer and fights the signs of aging.  Watermelon also has citrulline which boosts the immune system, cleanses the liver and is also found to have sexual health benefits.
