Spiced Up Watermelon and Orange Detox Juice Drink

All year round we are face to fight the temptation of indulging ourselves with mouth-watering dishes, tasty snacks and luscious desserts. While these foods satisfy what our tummy and mind wants, most of these are unhealthy and will damage our body in the long run if we don’t take them in moderation.

Our body needs detoxification. We need to flush out the toxins and unneeded fats our body intakes on the regular.  Going full organic on our diet is not the most practical thing to do for it could be really expensive. The solution? Detox juice drinks. Store bought detox drinks could be pricey but worry not, this stuff can be made at home and are very easy to prepare. So, here is a recipe that is easy to prepare, cheap and only requires a blender, the spiced up watermelon and orange juice drink.

If you have been following this blog for awhile now, you know that we are not a fan of using water on our juice recipes simply because we believe it’s pretty basic and watermelon juice has enough water content to basically replace the water. This recipe is no different. This recipe will give you that all natural, fresh fruit juice and we spiced it up to give it a little bit of a twist. Here’s what you will need:

  • 7 cups of watermelon flesh
  • 6 oranges
  • 3’ knob of ginger root, peeled
  • ¾ teaspoon of turmeric

Squeeze the juice out of the six oranges (approximately 18 oz) and set aside. Cut the watermelon flesh into cubes and then put it in the blender. Add ginger and turmeric. No need to grate or mince the mince the ginger since we are going to strain the mixture anyway. Add in the orange juice. Blend on high until the watermelon liquefies and until you see that the juice is smooth enough. Pour the mixture through a strainer to separate the ginger remnants and fruit pulps. Chill, serve and enjoy!

If you are to endure a hot day, or experiencing the aftermath of the party last night or maybe you simply want a refreshing drink, this drink is the perfect companion. It will keep your body hydrated and energized. It has watermelon juice that is good for rehydration and is packed with vitamins and essential nutrients like, vitamin A, C and B6. Watermelon is also has lycopene, antioxidant, citrulline and  amino acids that help us lose weight, flush out toxins, boost the immune system, and keep the skin healthy.
