Taste of Summer Part 2: Tropical Watermelon and Peach Detox Smoothie

I have stated in my previous post that I have the summer hangover. Guess what? I’m still not over it yet. I’m not going to turn to pumpkins and apples anytime soon. It’s not that I hate fall or anything, it’s just that summer has a very special spot in my heart and it brings a lot of fun memories.

To all those summer lovers out there let’s try to make us of summer’s fresh produce. Because once it’s gone, it’s a long time before we have a taste of their tropical goodness again.

Here’s Tropical Watermelon Peach Detox Smoothie to help us reminisce the relive the summer vibe. This healthy smoothie is the perfect summer hydrating and energizing drink – perfect for breakfast to help us start our day. This smoothie also let us enjoys peaches’ awesomeness while they are still available fresh.

I went crazy for this one. I can’t get enough of it! I can have this tropical smoothie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ok, that’s exaggerated. Seriously, though, this tastes really good and on top of that, it is really healthy as well. There’s nothing more I could ask for. So, here is the recipe for this Tropical Watermelon Peach detox smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of chopped watermelon
  • 1 ripe peach, sliced
  • ½ cup fresh coconut milk
  • Handful of crushed frozen coconut water (ice is ok if not available)
  • Mint for garnish

Procedure:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender and blitz on high until the mixture has that milkshake-like creamy consistency.
  2. Serve and garnish with mint. Enjoy!

This is the easiest smoothie recipe on our blog thus far with only four ingredients you may add honey if the fruits you have are not ripe or sweet enough. It’s guaranteed to quench your thirst and keep your body hydrated with all that watermelon. Watermelon juice is also rich in lycopene which is believed to be good for heart and bone health and prevention of prostate cancer. It also keeps our skin healthy since it is a powerful antioxidant and thought to have anti-inflammatory properties as well.

Peach is rich in vitamins A and C which is good for the immune system. It is also rich in minerals such as potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, and zinc. Peaches are good for losing weight since they are low in calories, does not contain any saturated fat or cholesterol, and are a good source of dietary fiber.

Coconut milk and coconut water’s nutritional value is capable of building up body’s immune defenses and prevents various types of diseases .Coconut milk contains beneficial fat called lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid that the body absorbs easily and converts it to energy. Coconut water on the other hand, is a natural diuretic that helps flush out toxins and is good for the blood as well.
